Nestled in the historic heart of Northern Åland, Åland Distillery is the first and only distillery on the Åland Islands, located next to Kastelholm Castle and the historic Vita Björn Crown Prison. Our distillery draws inspiration from Åland’s rich maritime history and the unique natural surroundings, blending timeless tradition with innovative flavors. While we embrace modern and innovative distillation techniques, our products carry the essence of the island’s heritage, offering a sense of adventure and craftsmanship in every bottle.
For years, Michael Björklund dreamed of establishing a distillery in this scenic setting. In 2019, he and Jenny Björklund turned that vision into reality, founding Åland Distillery in collaboration with a dedicated group of partners. Today, we are proud to share this journey with our growing family of shareholders.
In 2023, we took a bold step forward with a share issue, welcoming new owners and expanding our community. This has marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Åland Distillery. As part of our ongoing rebranding process in 2024-2025, we are unveiling a fresh and sustainable identity.

Our gin is crafted with a selection of handpicked herbs from Åland, blended with traditional spices used in gin distillation. We use the single-shot distillation method to ensure the highest quality and purity, capturing the essence of our carefully chosen botanicals in every batch.
Throughout this journey, we have had the privilege of working with Finland’s own spirits guru, Asko Ryynänen, whose expertise has helped us perfect our recipes and processes, ensuring the highest quality in every bottle.
